During construction of the new project safety officials at a major oil refinery in Scotland decided they needed a range of portable buildings to protect their workforce in areas of potential explosion.
Elliott Hire had for several years, provided Executive Range portable buildings used for up to 1000 workers during construction work at the site. Although staff had been completly satisfied with the quality of the buildings provided by Elliott Hire there were concerns that they would not withstand adequatley the pressure an explosion would create.
Staff at our Glasgow and Hull offices worked closely with an industry specialist to design Anti-Blast buildings not only of the desired quality but also to provide the necessary protection needed for such a potentially explosive site.
Following approval by safety officials at the oil refinery over 100 Anti-Blast buildings have been specifically manufactured to rigourous standards to withstand 100 Mba free field over pressure with 200 Mba reflective overpressure on any face.
Anti-Blast buildings are providing workers with offices, canteens, drying rooms, toilets and showers and during summer 2007 there was an increase to over 200 Anti-Blast buildings on site.
